THE FOURTH ANNUAL ROSEVILLE WINTER JAZZ BLAST

Unique in the state of Minnesota, the Fourth Annual, award winning*, Roseville Winter Jazz Blast, sponsored by the Roseville Visitors Association, is coming January 15, 2011. It’s your chance to take a welcome break from winter’s grip, while you enjoy the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. This festival will take place at Maranatha Auditorium on the beautiful Northwestern College campus.
Save The Date! 2011 promises to be even bigger than 2010 with the addition of special guest artist Wayne Bergeron!

This middle and high school instrumental jazz ensemble festival encourages a positive, educational experience:
- Clinics provided by professional jazz musicians and educators
- Master classes available for Saxophones, Trombones, Trumpets and Rhythm
SPECIAL GUEST ARTIST WAYNE BERGERON
Wayne Bergeron is one of the most highly sought studio trumpet players in the LA scene today, and plays lead and jazz trumpet with Gordon Goodwin's famous Big Phat Band. He also has played lead with Maynard Ferguson, Quincy Jones, Sammy Nestico, Tom Kubis, Bob Florence, and Matt Cattingub, and has hundreds of TV and film credits .
Bergeron has released two CD's by his own Big Band titled "You Call This a Living" and "Plays Well With Others". He has also recorded on hundreds of album tracks, including Ray Charles, Diana Krall and Brian Setzer.
Bergeron will host a Master Class at the Jazz Blast and perform with the JazzMN Orchestra. He will also be taking solos with a few participating student ensembles.
COME HAVE A BLAST!
- Each ensemble is invited to perform three pieces
- Critiques are provided by two professional adjudicators
- All groups receive a 30-minute clinic session with one of their adjudicators
- Each ensemble receives a CD of its performance
- Students are given the opportunity to attend a Master Class for Rhythm, Trumpet, Trombone or Saxophone
- Key student musicians will be individually recognized with certificates AND the top three student musicians of the day will be invited to perform onstage with JazzMN Orchestra during the evening performance
- Evening performance by JAZZ MN Orchestra featuring Special Guest Artist Wayne Bergeron and the top ensemble from the day's performances
- Hotel discounts are available
- Registration is only $150.00 per band entry (entry fee will be waived for groups staying in a Roseville hotel)

The Roseville Winter Jazz Blast will be held at Maranatha Hall on the beautiful campus of Northwestern College in St. Paul, suburb of Roseville, Minnesota.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 with the Festival starting at 8:25 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m.
